Baby Finn

On Saturday I had the pleasure of photographing 10 week old Baby Finn. He's a handsome little guy and he let me hold him while he dozed off to sleep. It really brought back memories from only 10 months ago. My sister Shelly assisted me with the shoot and she was such a HUGE help. First off, she's got lots of creativity that certainly came in handy when trying to pose the little guy, and she handed me my lenses when I was switching them out, which saved me so much time. I hate switching lenses :(

Finn's nursery is decorated with the Mickey Mouse gang (Mickey, Minnie, Donald, and Pluto) and was quite colorful. Overall, I think the shoot was a success. Hopefully, Finn's parents like the photos as much as me and Shelly.

This image has a texture applied to it. It was very appropriate for Finn. This is my first attempt at using textures, but hopefully more will come.

Practicing with Esmé

Today I wanted to take more photos so that I'm always practicing and who best to take photos of? My little one, Esmé. We packed up and headed down to our dining room and started our little photo shoot. She was very excited about the window and the Peter Griffin mint can. You can see there how big of a fan I am of Family Guy. She just likes to shake the can around making noise.

A Family Photo Shoot

This past week I was in Newbern, TN again visiting my parents. I had scheduled a family photo session with an old high school friend while in town. We met up on Saturday at the elementary school playground where I grew up. It really brought back some old memories. Of course most of the things on the playground were very much updated. They had those weird black chips of whatever it is to help break the fall for the kiddies. Not in our day. When you fell off the monkey bars you probably knocked the breath out of you. Anyway, on to the photo shoot. Teresa has a beautiful family (a hubby and 4 little ones) and it was a lot of fun taking their photos. I must say though that it was some real good practice since the photos were taken at 2pm which is a total photography no-no, and the wind was a blowin'. I figured I'd come away with a few good pictures, but I was surprised to see more good ones than I expected. Below are some of my favorites from the session.

First attempt at Easter pics - Result: Failed

The other day I tried to get some Easter pictures of the baby, but it didn't really work out. I hope to try again to get The Shot, but we'll see. For now here are some pictures of the 'failed attempt'.

I thought we were getting somewhere and then my Dad realized that he put the bunny ears on backwards.

Happy St. Patty's Day!

It's been too long since I last blogged. It's not because I haven't wanted, but because I just didn't have any pictures to post. I'm supposed to take pictures of two people this week while in Newbern, TN and that will definitely give me lots to post. In the following pictures, Esme is sporting her Kiss me I'm Irish bib that her Oma (grandmother in Indonesian) bought her. I know I know, you're thinking where's the Irish? Well, it turns out that I do have Irish blood in my family on my Dad's side.

Not sure what this face was about...

... or this one...but they were too cute not to post.

Tea Party

On Saturday, we celebrated my father-in-law's birthday by going to The Savannah Tea Company. It was so much fun and just plain neat. You get to pick out your tea and then choose your tea cup and saucer from a selection on a shelf. I chose Strawberry Shortcake (mmmmm). Some other selections were Chocolate, Chocolate Mint, and Caramel Cherry Cheesecake. You get a whole pot to yourself! Needless to say we all tried each other's. Whilst sipping on your tea you get a scone, muffin, cup of soup, and quiche. Then they bring out a tray full of 'tea style finger stuff'. Just when you think it's over, you get raspberry sorbet. In the end we ventured into a room with all sorts of hats hanging on the walls. You can see the fun we had with those.

Oh, they do wedding cakes too apparently. I snagged a few pics of those as well. So, if you're in Nashville you should certainly visit this place. I plan on going back again soon.
